comp problem

hey-hope that someone can help me.. my computer wont start, all fans start but harddrive dont start allways,when it starts it freez up after a little while,some are saying its the motherboard and some are saing its the harddrive,,some one know what to do??

and my monitor says --no signal

hmm the fan on my graphcard is not spining--can thet be the problem

Right buddy take your hard drive out and start your computer if it boots to post . Power
On

Test
that ok but then try doing it again but this time with the hard drive in
If it don't boot to post then it could be the hard drive

If it your graphis card then it should boot to post but you will not get anything on your screen

when you say it starts sometimes do you mean you can get xp on then it freezes ? if that is the case then try restarting and pressing f8 to boot in safe mode. if it starts then you have a software problem which could be drivers or a virus.

if you cant boot the computer at all then you have a number of hardware checks.

1. graphics card. You say your graphics card fan is not working. if you have onboard graphics then you can take your graphics card and put your monitor into the onboard slot you may also need to change your bios settings. if it boots then you know what the problem is. you could always try a spare graphics card and see if that does the job.

2. hard drive. as reg as said. take your hard drive out and see if it boots until you get a message. try pressing a couple of key to see if it comes on the screen.

3. motherboard. try resetting your bios. on your motherboard there should be a reset. most motherboards there are 2 prongs and you reset it by using a jumper.

4. memory. when your computer boots you should see how much memory you have and if it is not the same as what you have in your computer then try taking them out and see if you computer boots. if tiy have more than one then try only one at a time.
